THE GREEN ANGEL IS COMING

Angel Light "Green Team" Group "We Find the Light in Energy," by Going Green for Movie and Film Production in NYC.

By Mr. W. Wee
May 20, 2010

It's commonly believed that when it comes to energy efficiency and movies, there is one person that has a vision and passion for both. Antonio Saillant, President of Angel Light Energy and Angel Light Pictures. He’s known as one of the most outspoken green individual in New York City and soon in Hollywood.

Saillant is very active in energy conservation and helping future television and movie industry to push the idea of the initiatives of going green. He saved energy to major hospitals, pharmaceuticals and major businesses in New York City, New Jersey and even Radio City Music Hall and Yankee Stadium.

A graduate of the New York Institute of Technology with a degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering. He is a top Management Executive for over 15 years in the energy field, managing over $1 billion in both the private and public sector. His specialties included energy conservation, energy supply management and energy infrastructure. He evaluated and implemented the following in many companies/projects: Project Management; Project Financing; Construction Management; Operations & Maintenance; Energy Auditing; Energy Engineering; Measurement & Verification.

His passion for the entertainment industry led him away from engineering and carried him into motion pictures. Saillant has appeared on both the big screen and television.

Relishing his role behind the camera as well as in front, Saillant decided to utilize his years of experience and formed Angel Light Pictures with the goal of developing films for a global audience.

Saillant worked with Robert Stock at Stock's Eye, the independent production company which produced the syfy thriller The Ascension, starring Corbin Bernsen. Saillant also worked on the independent film Heterosexuals, produced by J. Robert Spencer, the actor and singer who was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in the Broadway musical Next to Normal.

Saillant is best known for his amazing networking abilities and charisma. His networking led him to meet and learn from high profile industry professionals as well as being able to gain trust and friendship from his mentors by simply being genuine.

Saillant's long time collaboration with his mentor, Ted Kotcheff, led to the idea of one day working together in producing upcoming film projects. Kotcheff directed many U.S. films throughout the 1970's and 1980's, with perhaps the best-known film being "First Blood" in 1982, starring Sylvester Stallone. Kotcheff is currently the executive producer of NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" .

Saillant also had the privilege to know Sydney Pollack, whose films received a total of 48 Academy Award nominations, winning 11 Oscars. Pollack directed more than 21 films and 10 television shows, acted in over 30 films or shows, and produced over 44 films.

Saillant commented "Learning from Kotcheff and Pollack was definitely a stepping stone in the right direction. In order to gain someone's friendship in the industry, when meeting a director or a producer for the first time, be yourself. Everything you read, learn or experience changes who you are and your goals for who you want to become. You should strive to constantly develop your relationship as you develop yourself."

Saillant's, Angel Light Energy has provided hundreds of clients nationwide with energy and sustainability solutions about perceptions, barriers and opportunities for energy efficiency in new and existing buildings.

Angel Light Pictures was created to educate and inspire future artists that have that entrepreneurial spirit, raw talent, commitment and tenacity to create a career of longevity and mastery. The company has the artistic vision and with the goal of bringing the universal themes of friendship, integrity and goodwill to the big screen, and to television for worldwide audiences who are tired of the stereotyped movie formula.

Saillant stated, "I’m pleased that with the Angel Light Group it will be able to combine both the motion pictures and energy business model in order to make both my vision quests into reality.”
"We at the Angel Light Group will be working diligently toward focusing on energy services business while pursuing the motion picture industry.”

The future of the Entertainment industry will definitely follow an environmental pattern. Stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Forest Whitaker, Chace Crawford, Jason Bateman, Emmy Rossum and more stars appear in a new PSA asking Americans to contact the government about passing a clean energy bill. Efforts are taking place throughout the movie and television industries and in all companies to recycle materials and cut down on water consumption.

"Production is an inherently high-polluting business and the process of turning Green takes time and money," said Saillant.

Saillant will be setting up future meetings with studio executives to discuss ways the industry can be more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly and if money is an issue, the Angel Light Group will work with State, City and utilities to develop rebate incentives in order to help in the green efforts.

Independent Film Producer invited to set of Law & Order: SVU

Independent Film Producer invited to set of Law & Order: SVU

By Martha Swartz

Antonio Saillant, an Indie film producer has been given the chance of a lifetime to shadow "Ted Kotcheff" on the set of the Hollywood television series, "Law & Order: SVU".

Saillant, who lives in New York City, is the owner of Angel Light Pictures, an independent production company that gives inspired film-makers the chance to make their dreams into reality. Entertainment has a new light, "Angel Light".

Ted Kotcheff, Executive Producer and one of the Show- Runners, is a friend of Saillant, which led to the idea of Kotcheff one day mentoring him. Kotcheff directed many U.S. films throughout the 1970's and 1980's, with perhaps the best-known film being "First Blood" in 1982, starring Sylvester Stallone.

Saillant, who "work shadowed" Kotcheff for two weeks, said the opportunity was "fantastic". Meeting the cast and crew especially Marishka Hargitay, Christopher Meloni, Ice-T and Sharon Stone was outstanding.

Sharon Stone who joins the cast of Law & Order: SVU as a guest spot in which she plays a retired cop who becomes an assistant district attorney. Seeing Sharon Stone in action during the filming of the last episode of the 11th season was breathtaking, said Saillant.

In addition, French actress “Isabelle Huppert” was also involved in the filming of the last episode of the season as guest star. Huppert is best known for her in the “Piano Teacher” and the “Lacemaker” along with a handful of American Movies such as “I Heart Huckabees”.

I would be reluctant to say something like, "film is a lot more challenging and filled with philosophical depth than TV" when the reality is that film merely has more freedom to be that way. "I hope as my career develops, I'll end up working on bigger budgeted films and hopefully with Kotcheff. "I'm hoping to join the set in Canada which will be my first time on a proper film sound stage involving Kotcheff," said Saillant.

The film November Gale, is the human and tragic story of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald, an event immortalized in Gordon Lightfoot's epic song. This film project is being produced by Gerry Arbeid who has hundreds of screen credits to his name and will be directed by Kotcheff. No set date has been established yet for filming.

Saillant, who was once a semi-pro baseball player turned Aerospace engineer, studied at the New York Institute of Technology in Long Island, Old Westbury.

Saillant commented "Learning from Kotcheff was definitely a stepping stone in the right direction." In order to gain someone's friendship in the industry, when meeting a director or a producer for the first time, "be yourself". Everything you read, learn or experience changes who you are and your goals for who you want to become. You should strive to constantly develop your relationship as you develop yourself.

Saillant initially met Kotcheff in his New York City resident building years ago and after being invited on the set of SVU fell in love with Kotcheff's style of directing and producing and they met many times after to discuss how the mentoring would work.

Although the formal mentoring period is over, Kotcheff will continue helping Saillant on an informal basis.

Saillant is also busy pursuing his own film career. He formed his own company "Angel Light Pictures" with the goal of developing films for a global audience. Saillant worked with Director/Producer Robert Stock at "Stocks Eye", an independent production company which produced the SyFy thriller, "The Ascension" starring Corbin Bernsen.

Saillant also worked on the independent film "Heterosexuals" produced by J. Robert Spencer, who played Nick Massi in "Jersey Boys" and is currently starring on Broadways new musical as Dan in "Next to Normal".

Future works from Saillant include a football drama entitled "The Golden Knights", two comedies entitled "If" and "Pumping Up", as well as thrillers "Wormhole", "The Expendables: Soul Harvest" and "Gripped".

Dancing's Tony Dovolani: What's With All the Kate Hate? by Joyce Eng

Article below, Tony Dovolani mentions Angel Light Pictures independent films "Wormhole" and "Pumping Up."

Dancing's Tony Dovolani: What's With All the Kate Hate?

Mar 21, 2010 10:01 PM ET
by Joyce Eng

Tony Dovolani was the only one in the dark. The Dancing with the Stars pro says he doesn't read casting rumors about the show, so the possibility of working with Kate Gosselin (a widely speculated pairing since they both live on the East Coast) never crossed his mind. "Everyone was thinking that except me!" he tells TVGuide.com. "I don't read rumors. If you do and set your heart on somebody and don't get them, or it turns out the person is not doing the show, then you're disappointed even if you get somebody great." And great is exactly what the mom of eight is, says Dovolani, a dad of three — whatever "haters" might think.

TVGuide.com: What was your reaction when you found out you had Kate?

Tony Dovolani: I knew my wife was going to be very happy because she's a big fan of hers. I think there's a bond between people who have had twins. I was pleasantly surprised and happy she was doing our show. You hear about people and you're always curious to see if they are who you think they are. In this case, I was very happy to learn she was just as sweet as I thought she was going to be. She's so nice, and we're having so much fun together.

TVGuide.com: Evan Lysacek said Kate showed some rhythm during your title shoot. Is she going to be a dark horse?

Dovolani: [Laughs] Kate has never taken a dance step in her life! The one thing she does have is drive. That's something that I love about her. She's fantastically driven. There are a lot of hours packed in and she's 100 percent present the entire time. She wants this really badly and she's willing to work really hard. But as far as her having any advantage over the contestants — no. The other ones come with way more experience.

TVGuide.com: How often do you rehearse?

Dovolani: Every day for six hours a day at her home in Pennsylvania. The rest of the time, she's with her kids. People think she's away from her kids and she's not. She's a single working mom. Instead of being supportive of her, they're bashing her. I don't understand that. My sister told me, "Tell Kate that all of us mothers understand and we're standing behind her." To hear that confirms that I'm thinking the right way. She has to provide for those kids. They're so sweet! They came up with a routine they showed us one day! Once in a while we perform for them. She's a great mother. They're all over her.

TVGuide.com: How does your Viennese waltz look?

Dovolani: We're ready. I'm excited to show everyone what she's accomplished in such a short amount of time, not having any experience whatsoever. You're expecting a person to go from zero to 160 mph in seconds. There has to be a lot of trust. It's a process. As a teacher, I'm excited because I have an empty canvas to work with. She has the work ethic and that's all you can ask for. I would say she's an average learner, but the hard work makes her a fast learner.

TVGuide.com: She's a very divisive figure. Are you concerned about how that will affect voting?Dovolani: I'm new to this whole thing about hating somebody and I don't understand why people hate her. Our show is so positive that it's going to be difficult to hate someone. I love our show. It's the only show you can watch with the whole family. For me, it's mindboggling to think people think negatively in general, let alone at someone they don't know. I guess if you're a hater, don't watch when we're dancing. ... Honestly, I think the side she has shown — not what the tabloids have shown — there's nothing wrong with her. She's a mom taking care of her kids. She doesn't buy into the tabloids. She's a great role model for her kids.

TVGuide.com: What do you think of the rest of the cast?

Dovolani: It could be one of the best seasons ever. We have a little bit of everything. Niecy [Nash], Nicole [Scherzinger] — I'm a huge fan of hers. Erin [Andrews], Evan — I can't wait to see them. Chad [Ochocinco], what a personality! ... I'm excited about the changes too. Brooke [Burke] coming on is awesome. There were changes that needed to be done, like with the big cast. I think the producers listened to the audience. The audience was the one that suggested these things.

TVGuide.com: Are your or Kate's kids going to come out for the tapings?

Dovolani: I don't know if hers will come. My wife comes out every three weeks every season with our [4-year-old] daughter. My wife's my hero. She goes through so much on a daily basis so I could do what I do. When we got pregnant with our first child, I said I was going to quit competing to be around. She said, "No. You're going to compete and you're going to win because I want you to share this with your kids to set an example for them. I want them to say, 'My dad is a champion.'" It's because of her I am where I am now.

TVGuide.com: You also act. What do you have coming up?

Dovolani: There are some projects. I love being able to create — acting, choreography, dancing, whatever it is. ... There's an independent movie called Wormhole that I'm going to do. I have Pumping Up, which has to do with bodybuilders, and it's really cool. I'm looking forward to the summer because there are a bunch of projects lined up.
